Stewards of the Mysteries of God

Today, we are going to be looking at 1 Corinthians chapter 4 and specifically, the importance of humility in the life of a Christian. In verse 1, Paul writes:

"This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God."

Here, Paul is reminding us that as Christians, we are not called to seek greatness or prominence in this world. Instead, we are called to be servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. This means that our primary focus should not be on building our own kingdoms or gaining power and influence, but on serving God and His people.

Furthermore, in verses 6-7, Paul writes:

"I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?"

Here, Paul is reminding us that everything we have, everything we are, and everything we accomplish is a gift from God. We should not boast or be proud of our own accomplishments, because ultimately, we are simply stewards of the gifts that God has given us. Instead, we should give all the credit and glory to God, who is the true source of all good things.

In conclusion, dear brothers and sisters, let us strive to be humble servants of Christ, always mindful of the fact that everything we have is a gift from God. Let us not be puffed up with pride, but let us humbly serve God and His people, giving Him all the credit and glory. May God bless us all in this endeavor. Amen.
